淮安市实验小学由著名爱国教育家李更生先生于1908年创建。百年历程积淀了丰厚的文化底蕴，形成了优良的办学传统和鲜明的办学特色，是首批江苏省实验小学、模范学校。
学校占地2.6万平方米，建筑面积3.5万平方米。现有134个教学班（含幼儿园），在校学生7000人，教职工450人。学校确立“以人为本，和谐发展”的办学理念，以“更好地促进学生的素质发展、教师的专业发展、学校的品位发展”为目标，实施“名师创名校、名校塑名师”战略，立足“轻负担，高质量、创特色”。学校拥有在职特级教师4人，副高级职称教师6人，市学科带头人、首席教师、骨干教师近50人。学校先后荣获“全国学校艺术教育工作先进单位”、“江苏省文明单位”等三十多项国家级、省级表彰，成为全市基础教育的“窗口”。

Huai’an Experimental Primary School, established by Li Gengsheng, a
distinguished patriotic educator in 1908, is one of the earliest Experimental
Primary Schools and exemplary school in Jiangsu province, characterized by the
good teaching tradition and distinctive theory due to her one-century
accumulation of cultures.
The school covers an area of 26,000 square meters, in possession of building
area of 35,000 square meters. Now, there are 450 staffs and 134 teaching
classes (including a kindergarten) with 7,000 pupils. Among the teachers, there
are four of a special classification, 6 associate senior teachers, 50 leading
teachers and backbones. The school was awarded successively “National advanced
unit in school art education” and “Civilized unit in Jiangsu province” etc,
about more than thirty provincial and national items.
New curriculum reform brings us challenges and opportunities. The school will
keep reinforcing its intrinsic development towards a higher goal by building up
“Reading Campus”, “Bilingual Campus”, “Digital Campus” and “Ecological Campus”.
